Iranian plot to attack former Mossad chief revealed by Israeli intelligence
Israeli intelligence services uncovered a plot orchestrated by Iran targeting the former head of Mossad, Ronen Bar, and his wife, according to reports from Israeli media outlet Channel 12.
The couple was urgently evacuated from the United Arab Emirates, where they were staying, and returned to Israel after authorities were alerted to the threat. Ronen Bar, who served as the head of the Israeli intelligence agency from 2021 to 2025, had traveled to the UAE for professional reasons.
Iran considers Bar responsible for a series of operations that harmed its interests, including the assassination of Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, a high-ranking officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in Tehran in May 2022.
The Israeli government has repeatedly accused Tehran of planning attacks against Israeli targets internationally, as part of the broader confrontation between the two countries.
