Kazakh man held in Sharjah over murder of two sisters in apartment
A Kazakh national has been arrested by Sharjah Police in connection with the murder of two sisters, also Kazakh, found dead inside a residential apartment, Google News AE reports.
Authorities received a tip-off through the operations room and immediately launched an investigation. A rapid but intensive inquiry allowed investigators to identify the suspect, collect evidence, and apprehend him at the scene.
Brigadier Dr Khalifa Balhai, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police, said the two victims had known the accused prior to the incident. A dispute between the sisters and the man, Balhai said, had led to the double killing.
The suspect confessed to the crime after being confronted with the gathered evidence. Legal proceedings have been initiated and the case referred to prosecutors, Balhai added.
Lt Gen Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, praised the speed of the response and called on the public to rely on official sources for information rather than circulating rumours.
Balhai credited the swift outcome to the integration of various teams across the force, saying the suspect had been apprehended "in record time".
