East London pair face cocaine charges in Barbados after 46kg seizure

Two men from east London have been charged in Barbados following the seizure of 46kg of cocaine with a combined street value of approximately £888,000, standard.co.uk reports.

Abdul-Rasheed Anjolaoluwa Oduola, 19, and Miraldie Ndunzi, 22, were arrested on September 29 by the Barbados Police Service Narcotics Unit. Each man was found carrying around 23kg of the class A drug, valued at roughly £444,000 apiece.

Both appeared before a court in Horse Hill, St Joseph, on October 2. They face four charges: possession of cocaine, drug trafficking, intent to supply, and attempting to export the substance.

The total quantity seized is said to represent more than $1 million worth of cocaine, according to the Barbados Police Service. It remains unclear how authorities discovered the drugs, and an investigation into the alleged smuggling operation is ongoing.

A Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed the British government is involved: "We are providing consular assistance to two British nationals detained in Barbados and are in contact with the local authorities."
