A 33-year-old Kingston resident has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following a late-night traffic stop on Portsmouth Avenue, thewhig.com reports.

Kingston Police pulled the driver over at approximately 1 a.m. on 5 September after officers observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The stop was made at the intersection of Portsmouth Avenue and Churchill Street.

After speaking with the driver, officers determined grounds to request a breath sample. The test returned a "fail" reading.

The man was charged with impaired operation, impaired operation exceeding a blood alcohol concentration, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to Kingston Police headquarters, subsequently released, and given a future court date.
