A 27-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting death at Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick, cp24.com reports.

RCMP arrested the suspect on Friday at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport as he was preparing to board a flight bound for Dubai. He is to be transported to New Brunswick to face the charge, which was laid on Saturday.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was killed at the First Nation community last Tuesday. The shooting prompted RCMP to issue a shelter-in-place alert for Elsipogtog residents at approximately 2:30 a.m. while officers searched for a suspect.

A second arrest followed on Saturday. RCMP say a 35-year-old woman from Elsipogtog was taken into custody in connection with the same death. She appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on Sunday and was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
