Two Arrested After Weapons Disturbance in Downtown Kingston

Kingston Police have charged two individuals following a weapons incident that occurred on 2 September at approximately 6:30 p.m., thewhig.com reports.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Division and Garrett streets after receiving multiple calls from members of the public about a disturbance involving several people and the suspected use of weapons.

Upon arriving at the scene and speaking with witnesses, police identified those involved and contained the situation. Several individuals were detained without injury to any members of the public.

Two people were formally charged and held for a bail hearing. One of those charged, a 28-year-old, faces multiple counts, including five counts of breaching probation.

Kingston Chief of Police Adam MacIntosh credited officers and the public for the outcome. "This incident highlights the exceptional work of our frontline officers, who responded quickly, assessed a rapidly evolving situation, and safely brought it to a resolution," MacIntosh said in a news release. He added that tips from bystanders "played a critical role in our response and serves as a reminder that community safety is a shared responsibility."

Kingston Police said no further information will be released in connection with the incident at this time.
