Two loaded firearms seized after Milton casino and vehicle thefts
Halton Regional Police arrested two North York men and seized two loaded firearms following a theft investigation spanning two days in Milton last month, Toronto Sun Crime reports.
According to police, the incidents began on Sept. 2, when two individuals broke into a parked vehicle in Milton and took cash, valuables, and a watch. The following day, the same two suspects allegedly entered Elements Casino in Milton, removed cash from a guest services drawer, and fled after being confronted by casino security staff.
Investigators identified two suspects believed to have collaborated on both thefts. On Oct. 1, officers executed a search warrant at a North York residence and arrested two people on site. A stolen Glock 17 handgun with three loaded magazines, a Norinco Type 56 rifle with two loaded magazines, and a spring-assisted knife were allegedly recovered during the search. Property stolen from the Milton vehicle was also found at the address.
Iraklii Shariia, 38, and Davit Kukhilava, 47, both of North York, each face two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and contravention of storage regulations. Both men are also charged with possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, possession of a weapon obtained by a criminal offence, theft over $5,000, and theft under $5,000. Kukhilava faces an additional charge of possession of a prohibited device.
