Third officer arrested, woman charged in Jerbiah Paul murder probe

A third police officer has been arrested and a 21-year-old woman formally charged as the investigation into the death of 16-year-old Jerbiah Paul continues to expand, antigua.news reports.

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force identified the woman as Nyoka James of Marigot. She has been charged with perverting the course of justice — a charge that authorities say is separate from the murder charges already brought in the case. James is not facing a murder charge.

No details about the identity of the third arrested officer have been released. It remains unclear whether that officer has been formally charged.

Two other police officers — Jean-Luc Rudy Langlais and Joshua Hamlet — have already been charged with murder in connection with Paul's death. Both have been remanded to the State Prison pending further court proceedings.

Paul was reported missing on July 24. Following weeks of searching, her remains were discovered in Capuchin on August 12.

With the latest arrests, four people have now been taken into custody in connection with various aspects of the investigation, three of them police officers.

The police force confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
