Co-pilot of flydubai planned to crash aircraft in Tel Aviv
According to Cyprus Mail, the Attorney General of the UAE announced on Friday that an Omani co-pilot of flydubai planned to take control of a Dubai–Tel Aviv flight and crash it into a terminal at Ben Gurion airport on 30 September in a suicide attack. He was stopped by the flight captain.
The state news agency WAM reported that UAE prosecutors believe the attack was inspired by the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 in the United States. An investigation, which began on 1 October, revealed that the suspect had used two previous flights to Tel Aviv to "familiarise himself with the route and the airport".
The incident caused the aircraft to lose altitude by 16,000 feet in 30 seconds, according to reports.
The Attorney General stated that the suspect had previously worked for various airlines in different countries, including Oman Air and Royal Air Maroc, before being hired by flydubai in January 2026.
