A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the chest during Student Day festivities in the town of Pocito, San Juan province, according to airedesantafe.com.ar. His twin brother was seriously wounded and remains hospitalised.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at Quinta Don Pedro, where various schools had organised a celebration attended predominantly by minors. The fight broke out during the closing of the party, when a mass altercation erupted among those present.
During the brawl, Uriel Ríos and his twin brother were attacked with bladed weapons. Uriel received a stab wound to the chest and was rushed to Hospital Rawson, where he died minutes later due to the severity of the wound. His brother, according to the medical report, sustained puncture and laceration wounds to the thorax and left arm; his condition is serious and he remains under medical care.
Hours after the crime, the Special Crimes Unit identified the suspected perpetrator of the attack: a 16-year-old boy from Chimbas who had attended the celebration as a guest. Being also a minor, the investigation fell under juvenile jurisdiction. The case was transferred to Juvenile Judge María Julia Camus.
Investigators are seeking to reconstruct how the fight started and determine the participation of each person involved in the attack. The investigation is focused on establishing the circumstances in which the brothers were wounded during the altercation.
The Justice system is proceeding with the appropriate measures within juvenile jurisdiction whilst Uriel's twin brother remains hospitalised.
