Bolivian wanted for rape arrested in Piedra Buena with Interpol red alert
The Argentine Federal Police arrested a Bolivian citizen in Comandante Luis Piedra Buena who was wanted by Interpol for the crime of rape. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Federal Court of Río Gallegos for his extradition to Bolivia.

Officers from the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) arrested a man of Bolivian nationality in Comandante Luis Piedra Buena against whom an Interpol Red Notice had been issued for the crime of rape, laopinionaustral.com.ar reported.
The operation was carried out by the Federal Operational Unit Division Río Gallegos, a department of the PFA's Superintendence of Federal Investigation Agencies. The action was triggered after receiving alerts issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO – Interpol), which had located the fugitive in the central area of Santa Cruz province.
With that information, the federal force deployed detective brigades to Piedra Buena. The officers carried out field work, data crosschecking and undercover surveillance in key sectors of the city until they identified the suspect's routine.
The arrest was carried out in full public view, unexpectedly, without resistance or possibility of escape.
According to the requirements of international justice, the detainee is being sought by the Criminal Sentencing Court No. 3 of the Capital and Province of Tomás Frías, based in Potosí, Plurinational Republic of Bolivia. In that jurisdiction he is charged with the crime of rape. After committing the attack on Bolivian territory, the accused crossed the border clandestinely and illegally to enter Patagonia.
Following his arrest, the defendant was transferred under strict security measures to Río Gallegos, where he was placed at the disposal of the Federal Court of First Instance presided over by judge Claudio Marcelo Vázquez. That body is responsible for initiating the necessary diplomatic communications and judicial requests with Bolivia to advance the extradition process.
