According to reports from enredaccion.com.ar, officers from the Buenos Aires Provincial Police detained two members of the Intelligence division of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA), accused of participating in a gang that carried out robberies using the "escruche" method—entering homes in the absence of their residents—in Villa Bosch, in the district of Tres de Febrero.
The operations were carried out by the Tactical Operational Group (GTO) of the 9th Police Station in Tres de Febrero, dependent on the Three de Febrero Departmental Police Security Station, according to information provided to the Argentine News Agency by police sources.
The thread of the investigation
The case originated from a burglary registered on 11 July at a residence on Segundo Sombra Street, number 5500, in Villa Bosch. Analysis of film recordings allowed detectives to identify a Volkswagen Vento used by the criminals, which operated with the support of a second vehicle.
After undercover surveillance work and field follow-ups, the vehicle was intercepted in San Miguel at the moment the two federal police officers were boarding it.
Arsenal and currency at the residence
The court immediately issued a search warrant for the residence that the couple had just abandoned, located on Moine Street, number 800, in Bella Vista. There the Buenos Aires provincial officers found an unjustified arsenal and money in foreign currency.
The detainees were identified as D. G. P., 45 years old, administrative personnel of the PFA Intelligence Division and regular driver of the vehicle used in the robberies, and A. L. C., 43 years old, also administrative personnel, who travelled as a passenger.
Among the items seized are seven handguns—three of them classified as military weapons—abundant ammunition of different calibres, the Volkswagen Vento (licence plate AD 335 JG), 2,400 dollars, 110 euros, mobile telephones and documentation with evidentiary value for the case.
Legal classification and hearing
The Functional Investigation Unit (UFI) No. 10 of the San Martín Judicial Department approved the operation, ordered the apprehension of both officers under the charge of "aggravated robbery for commission in an inhabited area and in a gang with burglary", and ordered their transfer to the judicial venue to provide investigative statements.
