Uruguayan citizen murdered in Palermo: two detained and silenced weapon seized
According to labandadiario.com, citing police sources from Agencia Noticias Argentinas, Carlos Andrés Migales Viera, aged 31 and of Uruguayan nationality, was found dead from gunshot wounds in his apartment on Costa Rica Street at number 5200, in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Palermo.
Relatives of the victim stated that a group of people entered the property without forcing the lock, opened fire on Migales Viera and fled the scene. Based on information provided by those close to the deceased, police officers arrested two suspects.
During the pursuit, at the intersection of Santa Fe and Bullrich streets, a silenced weapon discarded by one of the alleged attackers during their escape was seized. A revolver was also found in the vehicle used to escape. Experts from the Scientific Police were called to secure the crime scene.
The case was assigned to the National Court of Criminal and Correctional Matters No. 26 of the City of Buenos Aires, presided over by judge Damián Kirszenbaum, who is investigating the hypothesis of a contract killing.
Migales Viera had been born on 18 December 1994 in Uruguay and had entered Argentina in September. He was identified as the leader of the clan known as La Mafilia—referred to as Los Puglia in Uruguay—an organisation dedicated to small-scale drug trafficking with operations in Montevideo. In recent times he had settled in Punta del Este, where he opened a restaurant.
The man had a criminal record for thefts committed during his childhood, homicide, grievous bodily harm and drug trafficking. Investigators suspect that the intellectual author of the crime would be a person linked to drug trafficking in Uruguay.
