Two federal police officers detained over robberies in Buenos Aires suburbs
A pair of intelligence agents from the Federal Police of Argentina was arrested in San Miguel accused of being part of a gang that carried out home invasions in Villa Bosch.
Federal Police agents arrested with military weapons and dollars following robbery in Tres de Febrero
Two agents from the Intelligence division of the Federal Police of Argentina (PFA) were arrested in San Miguel accused of being part of a gang dedicated to carrying out robberies in the locality of Villa Bosch, in the district of Tres de Febrero. According to infobae.com, the arrest was carried out by officers from the Buenos Aires Provincial Police, who intercepted them as they were leaving their home and getting into the vehicle used in the robberies.
The incident that triggered the investigation occurred on 11 July at a house on Segundo Sombra Street at number 5500, approximately 200 metres from the Villa Bosch station of the Urquiza train line. Based on analysis of security cameras, investigators identified the automobile used by the suspects: a Volkswagen Vento that operated with the support of a second vehicle.
Following covert surveillance operations, the car was intercepted in San Miguel at the moment the two federal police officers were boarding it. The court immediately issued an urgent search warrant for the home the pair had just left, located on Moine Street at number 800, Bella Vista.
Arsenal, ammunition and foreign currency in the searched property
Personnel from the Tactical Operations Group (GTO) of the Tres de Febrero 9th Police Station (Villa Bosch) entered the property and found an unjustified arsenal. Among the items seized were seven handguns—three of them classified as military weapons—a large quantity of ammunition of various calibres, 2,400 United States dollars and 110 euros in cash. The Volkswagen Vento identified in the security footage was also seized, along with both detainees' mobile phones and documentation related to the case.
According to investigators' findings, D.G.P., aged 45, was the driver of the automobile used in the robberies, whilst A.L.C., aged 43, travelled as a passenger.
The PFA initiated proceedings and placed them on availability
When contacted by infobae.com, the federal force confirmed that, as members of the PFA's Intelligence division, both agents are governed by a secret and special law. Even so, the authorities decided to apply the same treatment as to active personnel. The PFA's General Directorate of Internal Affairs initiated the corresponding administrative proceedings and decided to place the two agents on availability until their procedural situations are resolved.
The case was initially assigned to Investigation Unit No. 10 (UFI N° 10) of the San Martín Judicial Department, which usually investigates cases with unidentified perpetrators. Once the pair were identified and arrested, the file was transferred to prosecutor Gabriela Belén Pino, head of Departmental Investigation Unit No. 6 (UFI N° 6).
D.G.P. and A.L.C. remain charged with the crime of aggravated robbery due to its commission in a populated area and by a gang with breaking and entering, awaiting to be questioned.
