Municipal employee from General Campos arrested following nine-year sentence for aggravated sexual abuse
A municipal worker from General Campos was arrested after being sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual abuse involving repeated penetration. The case was resolved by the Villaguay courts.

According to diarioriouruguay.com, an employee of the General Campos Municipality was arrested in that locality after the Villaguay courts sentenced him to nine years in prison for sexual abuse involving repeated penetration, aggravated by a pre-existing cohabitation situation with the victim.
The operation was entirely carried out by police personnel from Villaguay, in compliance with a directive from the Public Prosecutor's Office in that city. The San Salvador departmental headquarters stated that its intervention was limited to an examination performed by the police doctor once the arrest was completed, and did not constitute an independent investigative procedure.
Sentence handed down in abbreviated trial
The sentence was pronounced at an abbreviated trial hearing held on 23 September, presided over by judge of guarantees Nadia Benedetti. In addition to the nine years in prison, the ruling established the corresponding legal ancillary penalties and ordered the incorporation of the convicted man's genetic profile into the Provincial Registry of Genetic Data, along with protective measures for the victim.
The ruling stipulated that, once the sentence became final, the man would be placed temporarily in Penal Unit No. 9 Granja El Potrero, in Gualeguaychú—the same prison where former governor Sergio Urribarri and his brother-in-law Juan Pablo Aguilera, also from General Campos, are held—until the Court of Execution of Sentences and Security Measures determined the definitive facility for serving the sentence.
The abbreviated trial is the mechanism provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code of Entre Ríos through which the parties agree on certain conditions and the accused accepts criminal responsibility, an agreement which must subsequently be approved by the courts.
Employment situation at the municipality
Sources from the General Campos Municipality confirmed that the arrested man was part of the municipal staff and had, over time, performed duties in the Traffic area and later as a night watchman. In his most recent period he had carried out tasks related to the Municipal Sports Complex.
However, the executive branch clarified that at the time of arrest the man had been on leave for several months. According to the same sources, when the authorities learned of the complaint that gave rise to the judicial investigation, he was asked to temporarily step away from his duties.
"When we found out about the complaint we invited him to take leave until the courts decided," stated the municipality, emphasising that the man was not actively providing services at municipal facilities at the moment he was apprehended.
Following his arrest in General Campos, the convicted man was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities in Villaguay, who will continue with the corresponding proceedings for the implementation of the measures ordered in the case.
