A man wanted by the Buenos Aires judiciary for aggravated robbery with a firearm and serious injuries was captured on Wednesday in the Juan Pablo I neighbourhood of Tucumán, according to radiotucuman.com.ar. The operation was carried out jointly by personnel from the Fourth Police Station in Tucumán and officers from the Buenos Aires City Police.
The incident that prompted the pursuit occurred on 25 August in Buenos Aires, when the suspect and an accomplice fired at a delivery driver for the Didi platform during a robbery.
"In the morning hours on Wednesday, a successful operation was carried out, in which personnel from the Fourth Police Station and officers from the Buenos Aires City Police managed to detain a man from Tucumán, who was a fugitive from the Buenos Aires judiciary for a case of aggravated robbery with the use of a firearm and serious injuries," explained Principal Commissioner Guillermo Del Lugo, head of the Fourth Police Station, who highlighted the coordinated work between both forces.
Sub-commissioner Alejandro Chávez Alvarado, deputy head of the station, detailed the operation. According to his account, on the previous Monday a team from the Community Investigation Division No. 4 of Buenos Aires City arrived in Tucumán with preliminary information about the case. Based on that information, local personnel deepened the search and surveillance work until identifying the fugitive's home address at 800 Octaviano Vera Street.
Since the suspect was not leaving his house, the officers devised a distraction manoeuvre: Buenos Aires police officers presented themselves at the location posing as Argentine Post Office operators. The stratagem worked and the man came out to the pavement, where he was detained without incident.
"This joint work was carried out as efficiently as possible," Chávez Alvarado stressed.
The detainee is being held at the Fourth Police Station in Tucumán at the disposal of the Buenos Aires judiciary, pending his extradition.
