911 cameras detected suspect in Villa Argentina neighbourhood drain
A 34-year-old man ended up in custody at the corner of Corrientes and Bancalari, in the Villa Argentina neighbourhood of Córdoba, after an operator of the 911 video surveillance system spotted him entering a sewage pipe during the night of Friday, according to eldoce.tv.
The operator immediately raised the alarm and personnel from Cordobeses en Alerta were deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the man was inside the drainage conduit and was using cardboard to cover himself.
The depth of the conduit—approximately four metres—made access difficult, so the intervention of the Police Fire Brigade was necessary. Officers used a ladder to inspect the interior.
During the operation, officers seized a knife, a wear file and a section of cable approximately three metres long from the suspect. The objects were placed at the disposal of the courts along with the detainee.
So far, the motives for why the man had entered the drain have not been clarified, nor has the origin of the seized cable been established.
