A man was detained in the early morning of Saturday in Albardón after being identified as the suspected perpetrator of a robbery in the Las Lomitas neighbourhood, a residential complex nearing completion, according to tiempodesanjuan.com.
The operation began at approximately 2 in the morning, when officers from the La Cañada Operational Unit and the 18th Police Station attended the neighbourhood, located in the vicinity of La Laja and Amarfil streets. The site's night watchman provided a description of the suspect and indicated the direction in which he had fled.
With that information, a police motorcyclist began searching the surrounding area. A few metres from the complex, in a nearby undeveloped area, the officer located the suspect alongside the stolen items. Upon noticing the presence of the uniformed officer, the man attempted to escape, triggering a pursuit that lasted until the vicinity of Amarfil street, before reaching Tucumán.
The flight ended when the motorcyclist managed to catch up with him and apprehend him at that point. Personnel from the 18th Police Station subsequently took charge of the proceedings and corresponding procedure.
The case was passed to the Court of Flagrancy, with a charge classified as robbery. The detainee remains held at the 18th Police Station whilst the judicial process advances to establish his responsibility in the matter.
