The operation was coordinated by the National Security Ministry and involved the Federal Investigation Department (DFI) of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA). With the support of the Office of Economic Crime, Trafficking in Persons and Other Complex Offences of the UNIDAF Fiscal in Rosario, headed by Dr. Andrés Montefeltro, the Federal Operational Unit Division (DUOF) Paraná and the Special Investigations Operational Unit Division (DUOIE) Rosario also participated.
Detectives established that the alleged kidnapping was taking place in the vicinity of a well-known supermarket in Paraná. During surveillance of the location, they observed the accused himself—partner of the woman who had made the report—attempting to leave in a rental vehicle. Officers intercepted and detained him in the supermarket car park.
At the time of detention, a mobile telephone, cash, documents of interest to the courts, and the car used to carry out the scheme were seized from him.
The arrested man was placed at the disposal of the magistrate involved under the charge of "clarification of false report of extortive kidnapping".
