A young man was shot dead on Monday night whilst having dinner with his family at a house in Villa 1 de Mayo, in Chimbas, San Juan. According to notife.com, the attack occurred around 23:00 hours when several hooded men broke into the property, opened fire without a word and fled in a motor vehicle.
The victim was gathered with his relatives when the attackers entered by surprise. One of them shot directly at the young man; immediately afterwards, the group abandoned the house and escaped in the vehicle.
Until the information was closed, neither the identity of the victim nor that of the alleged perpetrator of the shooting had been officially reported by the authorities.
The investigation was assigned to the UFI Delitos Especiales, which deployed personnel to the scene to carry out forensic procedures and collect evidence to allow the sequence of the attack to be reconstructed. Investigators are seeking to determine how many people participated, how they reached the house and what route they took during their escape. The alleged attacker remained at large during the early hours of the investigation.
Among the preliminary hypotheses is a previous dispute, although the motive for the homicide has not yet been officially established.
After the young man's death became known, moments of heightened tension were recorded among neighbours and those close to the victim in Villa 1 de Mayo. The situation required reinforcing the police operation with Infantry personnel, deployed to contain the incidents and allow forensic experts to work at the crime scene.
The homicide occurred less than 24 hours after another murder in the province: the femicide of Camila Vechiarello in Barreal. The security forces continue working to identify and arrest those responsible for the attack in Chimbas.
