According to avellanedahoy.com.ar, Federal Police detained a 19-year-old youth in Avellaneda accused of attempted murder committed in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Palermo in June 2024. The arrest was made more than two years after the incident, at the intersection of Rivas and Pasaje El Ceibo streets.
The incident occurred in the early morning of 10 June 2024, at the exit of a nightclub in Palermo. Two criminals assaulted a 17-year-old youth with punches and rifle butts. The victim was left lying on the road.
A 27-year-old man intervened to stop the robbery and protect the minor. The attackers responded by shooting at him with two bullet impacts. He was urgently transferred to Manuel Belgrano Hospital in San Martín, where doctors managed to save his life.
Following the attack, the perpetrators fled in a stolen car that was the subject of a seizure order, which was later found abandoned inside Villa Zavaleta, in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Barracas.
One of the suspects had previously been detained. The arrest of the second was completed this week. Sources specified that the youth "had abandoned his usual place of residence and begun to frequently visit the house of some relatives on Isla Maciel, located in the Dock Sud neighbourhood, in the district of Avellaneda".
The officers also determined that the detainee had two other outstanding arrest warrants—attempted robbery and armed robbery—requested by two Juvenile Courts.
