Germán Ismael Galleguillo, 24 years old and father of two children, died on Thursday afternoon at Dr. Guillermo Rawson Hospital as a result of a stab wound received during the early morning hours in the Tamberías area, department of Jáchal. A 17-year-old teenager was detained and remanded to the custody of the Juvenile Justice system.
According to sanjuan8.com, the incident occurred at approximately 2 o'clock in the morning at a store located in the vicinity of Costa Canal, under the jurisdiction of the Villa Mercedes sub-police station. Galleguillo was at the location alongside the minor when, for reasons still under investigation, the two allegedly engaged in an argument that escalated into a fight.
During the confrontation, the victim sustained a white-weapon wound that caused extremely serious injuries, including a perforated lung, according to initial case data. Galleguillo was rushed to San Roque Hospital in Jáchal and subsequently transferred by emergency code to Rawson Hospital, where he died despite the medical care received.
Police personnel intervened following the incident and proceeded to detain the teenager involved. His identity remains under seal owing to his status as a minor.
The investigation must determine how the assault occurred, what circumstances preceded the confrontation, and what role each of those involved played. For the time being, the criminal responsibility of the teenager has not been established.
The Juvenile Justice system took jurisdiction due to the suspect's age. According to available information, the case could be one of the first in the Second Judicial Circuit in which the new Juvenile Criminal Regime is applied, with the adaptations foreseen for its implementation in the province.
