Arrest in San Isidro: stolen motorcycle, resistance and drugs

A 26-year-old was arrested on Saturday in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Concepción del Uruguay while driving a stolen motorcycle, according to elonce.com. During the operation, police officers seized 8.2 grams of cocaine that the suspect was carrying in his wallet.

The procedure was triggered following a call to 101 that reported suspicious activity around a motorcycle parked on the street. Personnel from the First Police Station travelled to the corner of Erausquin and Las Orquídeas, where they identified a Yamaha Crypton with the engine number filed off. Subsequent checks confirmed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen hours earlier.

When attempting to proceed with the arrest, the driver violently resisted. During the struggle, one officer suffered an injury to his hand. Two other police officers were bitten by a dog that was at the location.

While resisting the procedure, the young man apparently attempted to dispose of his wallet. Upon searching it, officers found two packages with a substance that was identified as cocaine following the corresponding tests, with a total weight of 8.2 grams. Following the discovery, the Dangerous Drugs Division intervened, participated in the operation and formalised the seizure of the material.

By order of the intervening prosecutors, the detainee was transferred to the Uruguay Department Head Office and held in custody. The case was filed as resistance to authority and concealment, while judicial proceedings continue their course.
