Homicide trial in Villa Asunción: closing arguments scheduled for 7 October

Oral proceedings regarding the death of Nicolás Guerra on Salta's riverbank
According to fiscalespenalesalta.gob.ar, Juan Antonio Zamora is being tried for the homicide of Nicolás Jonatan Guerra, which occurred on 24 January 2025 in the vicinity of Avenida Costanera at number 3200, in the embankment area of Villa Asunción, city of Salta.
According to the prosecution, around 9:45 that day, Zamora allegedly used a bladed weapon to wound a man who was accompanying Guerra. When the victim approached, he also allegedly received a wound from the same instrument in the thoracic area. Guerra left the scene following the assault and was found shortly afterwards showing no signs of life on the side of the avenue.
The autopsy determined that he presented a puncture-cut wound in the thorax with compromise of the thoracic cavity and the myocardium, which caused him hypovolaemic shock from a serious bladed-weapon wound.
Fiscal penal 1 of the Unit of Serious Attacks against Persons, Santiago López Soto, represents the Public Prosecutor's Office in the proceedings against Zamora, accused as the perpetrator of the offence of simple homicide.
The panel of judges is composed of Centro district judges Cecilia Flores Toranzos, Leonardo Feans and Mónica Mukdsi.
After the conclusion of testimony, the closing arguments of the parties are scheduled for this Wednesday, 7 October.
