Young man with criminal record detained in Santa Lucía following tip-off from his mother
A 22-year-old with a criminal history of offences against property was arrested on Friday in the Santa Clara neighbourhood, Santa Lucía, after his own mother alerted police to his presence at the family home, according to tiempodesanjuan.com.
Officers from the Barrio Balcarce Operational Unit and a vehicle from the 5th Police Station attended the residence following the call. Upon arrival, they were received by the young man's mother, surname Rodríguez, who confirmed that her son—identified as Braian Germán Bazán—was hiding in one of the bedrooms and authorised police entry.
Once found, the officers consulted with authorities from the Property Crimes Specialised Investigation Unit, which confirmed the existence of an outstanding judicial detention order against Bazán. The measure was linked to an investigation by the 5th Police Station's Brigade into a theft committed in May, the victim of which was a merchant from the area and neighbour of the detainee.
According to official records, Bazán had been captured on security cameras at the moment of allegedly committing the act. This material enabled his identification and led to the judicial order that remained in force until his detention.
Following his arrest, Bazán was transferred to the 5th Police Station, where he was placed in custody pending judicial proceedings and linked to the investigation file on the theft.
Official records consulted by the outlet further reveal that the young man has accumulated a series of proceedings for offences against property: a theft recorded in June 2026, an aggravated theft from May 2024, a simple theft from January 2024 and a simple robbery in attempted degree from July 2023. Additionally, Bazán had at least three outstanding arrest warrants on his judicial record.
