Minor found in Campana: Sofía Alert enabled rescue with arrest
A girl for whom the national emergency protocol Sofía Alert had been activated was found alive this weekend in the town of Campana, province of Buenos Aires, according to diariodecuyo.com.ar. The discovery took place during a swift raid carried out by the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) with support from National Gendarmerie personnel.
In the same operation, a man of legal age who was inside the property was arrested and remanded into custody. His connection to the child's disappearance and his degree of responsibility remain under court secrecy as judicial proceedings advance.
The National Security Secretariat, Alejandra Monteoliva, confirmed the outcome via social network X. "Thanks to the quick activation of Sofía Alert and the coordinated work of the Federal Security Forces, the minor C.A.R.C. was found alive in Campana, province of Buenos Aires," said the official.
Monteoliva also highlighted the international cooperation that proved decisive in locating the child. "I recognise all the personnel who participated in the operation and the authorities of Uruguay for the cooperation that made it possible to achieve this result," she stressed. Authorities did not provide technical details of the information exchange with the neighbouring country.
The exact age of the victim, the circumstances in which she was found, and the criminal charges under which the detained man was remanded are being kept confidential by order of the investigators.
The Sofía Alert system is the national emergency mechanism for the immediate search for missing children and adolescents whose life or physical integrity is considered to be at high risk. It operates through the mass and urgent distribution of the minor's image and information via media outlets, social networks and mobile telephone services.
