New arrest in Florencio Varela triple murder case: 16 suspects now charged

Sixteenth suspect detained in Florencio Varela triple murder
The investigation into the Florencio Varela triple murder has resulted in a new defendant being charged days before the anniversary of the killing of Morena Verdi, Brenda del Castillo and Lara Gutiérrez, tn.com.ar reported.
The suspect is David Alberto Godoy, an Argentine man of approximately 40 years old who was already detained in connection with an armed robbery at a supermarket. Since March he had been held at the North 3 Holding Facility in Buenos Aires City.
Analysis of various mobile phones allowed investigators to place him inside the white Chevrolet Tracker that transported the three young women during the night of 19 September last year. According to the investigation, Godoy remained at the house until 5 in the morning and was part of the trusted circle of "Pequeño J", identified as the intellectual author of the crime.
With his addition to the case file, the total number of those detained in connection with the triple murder has risen to 16. Godoy was transferred to the La Matanza DDI, where he will be interrogated this Friday.
In parallel, three suspects remain at large and have been issued international arrest warrants with red notices from Interpol. Investigators' main hypothesis suggests they could be located in Trujillo, Peru.
The courts must now determine the degree of participation of each defendant in the kidnapping, transport and murder of the victims.
The last time the families had news of Lara, Brenda and Morena was Friday 19 September, when the young women informed them they would be attending a party for which they would each receive 300 dollars. They were picked up in a white Chevrolet Tracker in La Matanza and taken to Florencio Varela. On Wednesday 24, the bodies of the three women were found buried in the yard of a house in that location. Post-mortem examinations confirmed that they were tortured, beaten and murdered.
