Peruvian sought for aggravated robbery since 2008 detained on Avenida General Paz
A 47-year-old Peruvian citizen with an international arrest warrant was arrested in Buenos Aires thanks to the Digital Ring system. Cocaine and ammunition were found in the vehicle.

A 47-year-old Peruvian citizen sought for years by his country's justice system was detained on 30 September on Avenida General Paz in Buenos Aires while driving a Peugeot 208 with an active detention order. According to noticiasargentinas.com, the arrest took place at the intersection with Avenida San Martín.
The arrest was made possible thanks to the Digital Ring, the automated vehicle registration plate reading system that operates in the city. The system detected the passage of the Peugeot 208 as it travelled along Avenida General Paz towards the Río de la Plata, and immediately registered that the vehicle had an outstanding judicial detention order.
Following that alert, Digital Ring personnel carried out real-time monitoring via cameras and domes. When the vehicle reached the intersection with Avenida San Martín, police officers intercepted it and proceeded to identify the driver.
The driver's details were verified in police systems, which made it possible to confirm that he had an international arrest warrant. That warrant had been requested on 26 June 2026 by the Federal Court for Criminal and Correctional Matters of Tres de Febrero, in the framework of an extradition case.
According to information provided to the Argentine News Agency, the request is linked to an aggravated robbery committed in Peru in March 2008. The Peruvian justice system became involved in the case and, in February 2019, the Permanent Criminal Chamber of Peru's Supreme Court of Justice declared the defendant's extradition to be admissible.
In the presence of two witnesses, officers proceeded to search the vehicle. Inside the vehicle they found 16 grammes of cocaine and, within a waist bag, a 9 mm magazine with 14 rounds of ammunition.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority in the framework of the extradition case being processed by the Federal Court of Tres de Febrero.
