FPA seizes 163 contraband items in Resistencia, Chaco, valued at $40 million

Seizure of contraband in long-distance coach in Resistencia
The Resistencia Federal Operational Unit Division seized 163 items of merchandise of foreign origin valued at more than 40 million pesos, according to spnoticias.com.ar. The operation was carried out on Thursday, 17 September in the city of Resistencia, province of Chaco, as part of customs code violation inspections.
Personnel from the Division, which reports to the Superintendency of Federal Investigation Agencies, intercepted a long-distance coach for routine inspection. Upon requesting the corresponding documentation, it was verified that the merchandise lacked the customs authorisation required by current regulations.
With judicial intervention and in the presence of witnesses, the items were opened, which contained clothing, domestic appliances and electronics articles, all without documentary backing. The entire cargo was seized. A narcotics detection dog inspected the merchandise and produced a negative result.
