Pregnant police officer shot by colleague at San Juan station, Argentina
A 29-year-old officer, six months pregnant, was wounded by a gunshot from a colleague at the La Bebida police station in Rivadavia. The baby shows no complications.

According to estasinformado.com.ar, a San Juan police officer was shot inside the La Bebida police station in Rivadavia Department on Monday last. The victim, Mariana Jofré, 29 years old and six months pregnant, was performing administrative duties when she received the gunshot at close range.
The person who fired the shot was believed to be officer Cristian Albarracín, who had previously participated in a pursuit alongside another officer. During that operation, Albarracín handed over his service weapon to that colleague, who returned it apparently loaded without warning him. While handling the weapon with his back to Jofré, the shot was discharged involuntarily.
Jofré, also mother of an eight-year-old girl, was rushed for medical care and underwent surgery. On Friday she was discharged from Sanatorio CIMYN following successful extraction of the projectile. The medical centre confirmed that the pregnancy continues without complications.
Ongoing forensic examinations seek to determine exactly how the incident occurred and to establish the degree of responsibility of Albarracín, who was formally charged. The court set an eight-month period to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. The officer remains at liberty whilst the judicial process continues.
