A 49-year-old man sought by Buenos Aires courts was detained in Gualeguaychú by Federal Police officers, according to diarioelargentino.com. The suspect had an active arrest warrant for aggravated sexual abuse involving carnal access, in a case where the victim is a minor connected to the accused.
The operation was carried out by the Federal Operational Unit Division Gualeguaychú, which falls under the Superintendency of Federal Investigation Agencies. Officers found him walking in the vicinity of Moreno and Gervasio Méndez streets.
The arrest was the result of work combining investigations, undercover surveillance and analysis of data from the Federal Police Communications System (SIFCOP), a tool that made it possible to establish the fugitive's whereabouts.
The arrest warrant had been issued by Guarantee Court No. 3 of Moreno, in Buenos Aires province. After being detained, the man was taken to the Gualeguaychú Departmental Police Headquarters and held pending his subsequent transfer to the General Rodríguez district, the jurisdiction from which his arrest had been requested.
