Remand imposed in Chacarita: man shot his business partner twice while sleeping

The Northern Flagrant Crime Unit of the City Public Prosecutor's Office secured remand in custody for a man accused of aggravated attempted simple homicide by treachery and use of a firearm, concurrent with illegal possession of a civil-use firearm conditional on registration, according to mpfciudad.gob.ar.
The incident occurred in a carpentry workshop in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Chacarita, where the accused and the victim were business partners. The accused entered the room where his partner was sleeping and, with a .22 calibre revolver, fired two shots at close range that struck the left cheekbone.
Following the initial shots, a struggle ensued. The attacker shouted at his victim that he was going to kill him, pressed the weapon against his neck and pulled the trigger at least three more times, but the shots did not fire. He then attempted to strangle him with a cable. The victim managed to break free and appeared at a window to call for help.
Neighbours, alerted by the shots and screams, had already called 911. A City Police patrol car arrived quickly at the scene and officers subdued the attacker, who was detained at the request of the Northern UFLA.
Fiscal assistant Natalia Pla requested remand in custody for the accused. The measure was granted by the head of Penal, Contravention and Minor Offences Court No. 15, Karina Andrade. The case will continue to be processed at the PCyF Prosecutor's Office No. 5, headed by Miguel Ángel Kessler.
