Man arrested after knife-wielding robbery at mobile phone shop in Chajarí
According to diarioriouguay.com, an adult man was arrested in Chajarí accused of being the alleged perpetrator of an aggravated robbery at a mobile telephone shop. The incident occurred on 17 September at approximately 21:15.
An adult woman filed a complaint with the Federación Departmental Police Headquarters. She declared that a hooded man entered the shop and, under threat with a blade weapon, stole cash and a mobile telephone.
Police investigation efforts resulted in a court order for a property search in the city. The search and seizure at the residence yielded positive results: officers seized items of clothing and a bicycle that, according to the investigation, had allegedly been used to commit the robbery.
During the procedure, the alleged perpetrator spontaneously stated before the witnesses present in the official record that he had disposed of the blade weapon used in the robbery. He indicated that he had thrown it in an open space in the city.
Personnel from the Command unit immediately conducted a search of a vacant lot and located a knife approximately 25 centimetres long, with a pink-coloured handle and blade. The item was seized through a separate official record and incorporated into the investigation.
With the results obtained, the local Public Prosecutor's office was notified. With prior authorisation from the Judge of Guarantees, the formal arrest of the man was ordered. The detainee was held at Police Station No. 1 in Chajarí, at the disposal of the courts.
Command personnel, the Investigations Section and Scientific Police staff participated in the procedures, under the coordination of the head of Chajarí Police Station. The investigation continues to determine the circumstances of the incident and establish corresponding responsibilities.
