Six detained for drug trafficking in Santa Fe, Buenos Aires and Salta: $10 million seized

A drug trafficking investigation concluded with six arrests and the seizure of more than $10 million in cash, drugs and firearms across the provinces of Santa Fe, Buenos Aires and Salta, according to lagacetaonline.com.ar.
The Aeronautical Security Police (PSA) executed 29 raids as part of the operation. Among the six arrested—three men and three women—is the alleged organiser of the group, identified as the principal supplier of narcotics operating in southern Santa Fe with connections towards the north of the country.
The investigation began with the analysis of communications from a man detained for drug trafficking in the Ezeiza Penitentiary Complex. That prisoner was requesting large quantities of drugs from the woman who was subsequently identified as the head of the network. Investigators also determined that the operations were being coordinated with another detainee.
To reconstruct the links between those involved, telephone communications, antenna records and money transfers were analysed, supplemented by surveillance work. The frequent contacts and vehicle movements detected were consistent with activities of drug stockpiling and distribution.
The main suspect's trips towards northern Argentina coincided with meetings and vehicle movements in Rosario and nearby towns. Transfers to Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba were also recorded on dates that converged with movements towards Aguas Blancas, Salta, which strengthened the hypothesis about her participation in the investigated activity.
The case is under the responsibility of the Regional North-East Narco-Crime Prosecution Office (PROCUNAR), under the direction of Matías Scilabra and with the involvement of prosecutors Franco Benetti and Gonzalo Ruggeri.
The operation resulted in the following seizures: five shotguns, four short firearms and 420 cartridges of various calibres; ten vehicles; 1,384 grammes of narcotics; $10,407,000 in cash, US$38,700 and post-dated cheques totalling $9 million. Additionally, 42 mobile phones, two notebooks, two scales, two banknote counting machines, five communications equipment and miscellaneous documentation were seized. All material will be analysed to determine the scope of the operations and whether additional persons are implicated.
