Uruguayan streamer arrested in Nordelta for striking girlfriend in front of thousands of followers

Uruguayan streamer Santiago Quintana De León, known on social media as Chaipa7, was detained in the private neighbourhood Barrancas del Lago, in the Nordelta area, accused of gender-based violence, according to tiempodesanjuan.com.

The operation was initiated following a call to 911 made by the victim, Lara Magalí Rapallo, 20 years old. Officers from the municipal patrol of Tigre attended at lot 78 of the gated community, where the young woman stated she had received punches and kicks inside the home, following an argument that was allegedly broadcast live by the streamer.

Audiovisual material distributed on social media was added to the case, in which the couple can be observed arguing inside a vehicle whilst driving along an avenue in Vicente López.

Staff from a private ambulance that arrived at the scene verified a visible injury on the left cheekbone of the complainant. The streamer, who has 72,600 followers on digital platforms, presented a mark consistent with a scratch.

The authorities activated the gender-based violence protocol and transferred the young woman to police headquarters. The detention of Quintana De León was carried out in Villa La Ñata, under the order of prosecutor Julio Petrucci, head of the Gender Investigation Fiscal Unit of Tigre, who charged him with the offence of aggravated assault.
