Drug gang leader wanted for triple femicide in Florencio Varela captured in Lima

Luis Alan Valverde Rodríguez, known by the nicknames "Papá" and "Lima", was detained on Monday in the vicinity of the Compartamos banking centre in the Huachipa area of Lima. According to lanacion.com.ar, the authorities consider him the leader of the drug trafficking gang responsible for the murder of Morena Verdi, Brenda del Castillo and Lara Gutiérrez, which occurred in September 2025 in Florencio Varela.

Valverde Rodríguez, aged 40, is the uncle of Tony Janzen Valverde Victoriano, better known as "Pequeño J", a Peruvian citizen aged 20 who has already been charged with preventive detention for his participation in the homicides.

Arrest warrant and operation in Peru

The arrest warrant had been issued last month by federal judge Jorge Rodríguez of Morón, who is in charge of the investigation. Detectives from the General Directorate of International Cooperation of the Interpol Department of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) received notification of the arrest.

According to the official statement, during the intervention it was confirmed that Valverde Rodríguez was using the false identity of Miguel Gerardo Celestino Timana, a document belonging to a citizen registered in the system of Peru's National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec).

"The location and subsequent capture of the accused was the result of rigorous strategic intelligence work that combined observations, surveillance and monitoring, the use of human sources and electronic intelligence," it was officially reported. The authorities noted that the deliberate use of that false identity demonstrates that the fugitive was fully aware of his legal situation and the arrest warrants issued against him.

Official response and extradition process

The Minister of National Security commented on the social network X: "Interpol Lima informed me that today, around 3 p.m., they detained in Peru the Peruvian citizen Luis Alan Valverde Rodríguez, uncle of Pequeño J, sought by Argentine courts for aggravated homicide in the case of the triple drug-related crime in Florencio Varela. Now we are going to begin the extradition process to bring him to Argentina so that he can answer to justice. Those who do wrong will pay."

The triple crime: a trap under the promise of a party

The three victims were last seen at 21:30 on 19 September of last year. At the intersection of Quila and El Tiburón, in Ciudad Evita, La Matanza, they got into a white Chevrolet van believing they were heading to a party. They were tortured and murdered that same night in a house in Florencio Varela. Verdi was 20 years old, del Castillo was 20 and Gutiérrez was 15.

The motive behind the crimes appears to have been revenge for the theft of 30 kilograms of cocaine, allegedly committed by an acquaintance of one of the victims.

The role of "Papá" and sentencing of the nephew

Judge Rodríguez and secretary Ignacio Calvi reconstructed that Valverde Rodríguez would have had a predominant role in the planning and execution of the murders. In the charging order for "Pequeño J" it was established that he "made essential contributions to the realisation of the criminal course of conduct, participating in different phases of the criminal action: from prior planning, the logistics of capturing and transporting the victims, securing the place of captivity, to the control and subjugation of them in the property where they were deprived of their liberty and subsequently murdered."

"Pequeño J" was charged with aggravated homicide committed with the premeditated participation of two or more persons, with cruelty, with treachery and with violence based on gender, reiterated in three acts in concurrent proceedings. A lien was placed on his assets to cover the sum of 1,000 million pesos.

Last June, Judge Rodríguez classified the facts as a "paradigmatic case of extreme violence against women for reasons of gender in a context of organised crime involving drug trafficking and sexual exploitation." Now, with the detention of Valverde Rodríguez in Lima, the Argentine authorities await the formal start of the extradition process.
