Three arrested for the murder of David Ojeda Vázquez, killed during a motorcycle robbery in José C. Paz
Buenos Aires Police detained three suspects for the homicide of David Elías Ojeda Vázquez, a 23-year-old young man murdered on 7 September during the theft of his motorcycle in the locality of Sol y Verde, José C. Paz, infobae.com reported. Among those implicated is a 16-year-old adolescent, accused of having provided the vehicle used in the attack.
The proceedings were conducted by the Departmental Investigation Unit (DDI) San Martín, through the Sub-DDI José C. Paz. On Wednesday, eight raids were carried out in which a Honda Wave 110 was seized, identified as the motorcycle in which the perpetrators of the crime travelled.
During the operations, a thermal container with logos of a delivery application, a helmet, clothing and a mobile telephone were also seized. In previous proceedings, police had already seized other mobile phones, two helmets similar to those used by the attackers and two motorcycle number plates with seizure requests for theft.
The two adult detainees, aged 19 and 20, were charged with aggravated homicide. One of them, a Uruguayan national, was intercepted near Alberti Street; the other was apprehended in the vicinity of Curupaytí. The 16-year-old adolescent was accused of having provided the motorcycle used to commit the robbery. All three were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Juvenile Criminal Responsibility Court of San Martín, headed by prosecutor Paola Campos.
According to police reconstruction, Ojeda Vázquez was returning from training and was travelling on a Honda XR 150 along Poland Street, between Piñero and Matheu, when two men posing as delivery workers intercepted him with the aim of stealing his motorcycle. Faced with the victim's resistance, the attackers opened fire. The young man fell to the ground and the criminals fled with his motorcycle. A SAME ambulance transported him to Mercante Hospital, where he died from the gunshot wound.
At the crime scene, forensic police personnel recovered a spent 22-calibre cartridge casing. Based on that finding, investigators analysed images from the Municipal Operations Centre (COM) and from private cameras, took statements and reconstructed the suspects' escape route. The investigation established that they fled along Poland, Matheu, Labardén, Félix Iglesias, Piñero, Butler and Lacrosse streets, which made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrators and locate addresses linked to them.
The case initially fell under the jurisdiction of Functional Investigation Unit No. 18 of San Martín and was subsequently transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Juvenile Criminal Responsibility Court of San Martín due to matters of jurisdiction arising from the participation of the minor.
