Uruguayan sought for homicide arrested in Colón with cocaine and $101,000
A 40-year-old Uruguayan citizen with an active international arrest warrant was arrested in Colón alongside another man during an operation in which cocaine and cash were seized.

A 40-year-old Uruguayan citizen wanted for attempted homicide was arrested in Colón during a night-time operation that extended into the early hours of Wednesday, elonce.com reported. A second man, aged 42, who was at the raided property was also arrested during the same procedure.
The operation began at around 21:00 hours in the area of Calle Primera Junta, near Rocamora. Personnel from Colón's Dangerous Drugs Division carried out the operation with the aim of apprehending the Uruguayan citizen, who was subject to an active international arrest warrant.
When officers attempted to detain him, the suspect entered the second man's residence and allegedly discarded narcotic material. The situation led to a flagrante delicto procedure that lasted until 02:10 on Wednesday.
During the operation, officers found six packages containing cocaine with a total weight of eight grams. Also seized were 101,290 pesos in cash, 46.8 grams of a substance allegedly used for cutting narcotics, cutting implements, notes and two mobile phones. The devices will be analysed if the judicial authorities so decide, in order to determine their possible connection to illicit activities.
Police sources from the Colón police department confirmed to elonce.com that the case that led to the arrest warrant occurred in mid-May, when a man received a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Two Uruguayans were initially detained for that incident, whilst two others remained wanted. One of them was arrested in Uruguay and extradited weeks earlier; the second was captured in last night's operation. Both remain in preventive custody.
The situation of the 42-year-old man arrested at the property will be determined by the courts, which must establish his possible connection to the seized substances and other items.
The procedure fell under the jurisdiction of judge Penayo Amaya and prosecutor Sebastián Blanc. The investigation will continue to determine the source of the cocaine, the destination of the money, and the possible involvement of those detained in drug trafficking.
