A 40-year-old Uruguayan citizen with an international arrest warrant for attempted homicide was detained in the city of Colón during a police operation carried out between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to lagacetaonline.com.ar.
The operation took place at a residence located on Primera Junta street near Rocamora. When attempting to apprehend him, the suspect entered another man's home and allegedly discarded envelopes containing cocaine, according to police information.
The operation continued until 2:10 on Wednesday and concluded with the detention of two people: the wanted Uruguayan and a 42-year-old man who was in the residence. Authorities will have to investigate the possible involvement of the second detainee with the substances and other seized items.
During the proceedings, officers found six envelopes containing a total of eight grammes of cocaine, along with 101,290 pesos in cash, cutting equipment and 46.8 grammes of a substance allegedly used to adulterate narcotics. Notes and two mobile phones were also seized, which will be analysed by the judicial authority to establish their connection to illicit activities.
The case falls under the jurisdiction of judge Penayo Amaya and prosecutor Sebastián Blanc. The investigation continues to determine the source of the cocaine and the destination of the seized money.
