15-year-old flees from police in Ried – serious crash after drug-driving
A 15-year-old driver sped away from police in Ried im Innkreis and caused a serious accident. A 35-year-old was seriously injured in the incident.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, a 15-year-old driver in Ried im Innkreis ignored a police check and drove away at high speed – with serious consequences. According to ooe.orf.at, the teenager from the Ried district collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Brucknerstraße and Lubergasse, whose 35-year-old driver was turning left.
Both cars were thrown into a garden area by the impact. The 35-year-old suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Ried hospital. The 16-year-old passenger in the suspected accident perpetrator's vehicle sustained minor injuries. Police officers provided first aid until the rescue service arrived.
Police detected signs of drug impairment in the 15-year-old. A voluntary urine test came back positive for THC, and a subsequent clinical examination confirmed the driver was unfit to drive. A grinder with cannabis residue was also secured from the vehicle.
The teenager was reported to the public prosecutor's office and the district administrative authority.
