29-year-old held in custody on suspicion of burglary in Lower Austria
An alert citizen alerted the police on Monday evening after observing a masked man outside an industrial building in Fräuleinmühle. Thanks to this tip-off, a 29-year-old Slovak was arrested during the night.
The report came in at approximately 22:25 on 13 July 2026 to the Lower Austria State Police Directorate. Officers from the Herzogenburg station reached the scene shortly afterwards. Upon sighting the officers, the suspect immediately fled on foot and disposed of items from his bag whilst doing so.
After a brief pursuit, law enforcement officers succeeded in apprehending the man. The subsequent search turned up a torch, gloves and a neck gaiter on his person. In his car, moreover, burglary tools and balaclava masks were found ready to hand.
The arrested person made no statement regarding the charges. Investigators initiated criminal proceedings and reported him to the competent public prosecutor's office in St. Pölten.
