On Tuesday evening, a police operation in Hallein spiralled out of control. A 32-year-old local man attacked the police officers who arrived at the scene, shouted that he would kill them, and injured two officers during the course of the operation. This is reported by the Kronen Zeitung.
The incident had escalated earlier: the man is said to have caused injuries in the flat of an acquaintance and then fled the scene. Officers later located him in the house of his live-in partner. There he reacted so violently that he not only hurled abuse at the law enforcement officers but also resisted being taken into custody and became physically aggressive.
Because he was clearly intoxicated, the officers took him into custody. He is accused of causing grievous bodily harm and resisting arrest.
