A 33-year-old woman caused a disturbance at a hotel in Vienna's Penzing district on Monday evening, 6 July, and subsequently attacked police officers. Emergency services were alerted by a receptionist who reported an agitated hotel guest.
According to police, the woman initially damaged a hotel object and then fled to the stairwell. Officers eventually found her lying on a bed in her room. She appeared heavily intoxicated, with clothing scattered about the room.
During the course of clarifying the incident, the 33-year-old became increasingly aggressive. She gestured with clenched fists towards the emergency responders and refused to comply with the officers' instructions. She suddenly jumped up and threw a remote control at a police officer. According to police, she made several further attempts to physically attack the officers.
The woman was subsequently temporarily arrested. The Vienna State Prosecutor's Office ordered that she be charged whilst at liberty. She faces charges of resisting state authority.
