As reported by Kleine Zeitung, a massive police presence caused a stir among passers-by and nightgoers at Graz's Jakominiplatz on late Saturday evening. The focus was a nightclub in the busy public transport hub in the city centre.
The State Criminal Police Office Styria led the operation, conducting investigations in the drug field. The State Police Command Styria described the operation as a "long-prepared emphasis and arrest operation". According to police, the trigger was "the execution of multiple arrest warrants issued by Graz State Prosecutor's Office" — several arrests were made.
Police emphasised that at no point was there any danger to residents and passers-by. The public was called upon to follow the instructions of the deployed officers.
Regarding the exact circumstances, the authorities refused to release further details for the time being, citing "investigative and criminal-tactical reasons".
