A 34-year-old is alleged to have abused his partner in Graz before stabbing her with a blade. The prosecution is investigating on suspicion of attempted manslaughter.

A 34-year-old man from Styria is the subject of criminal proceedings on strong suspicion of attempted manslaughter and sexual violence. The accused is said to have first sexually coerced his female companion during the night of 28 June and subsequently attacked her with a stabbing weapon. Prosecutor's office spokesman Christian Kroschl confirmed the case to the APA on Sunday.
The emergency services were only notified the day after the incident. The victim sustained serious injuries. According to investigators, the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
On 1 July, a judge ordered the man's detention. The grounds were the danger of flight, obstruction of justice, and the possibility of further offences. The man has so far remained silent regarding the allegations.
Both the victim and the alleged perpetrator hold Austrian citizenship. Witnesses were initially not identified. The authorities commissioned a forensic medical report to determine the extent of the physical injuries. The prosecutor's office initially declined to provide further details about the case.
