Arrest in Hernals: police seize nearly seven kilogrammes of drugs
As Google News AT — Crime reports, an officer from the street crime task force (EGS) noticed a 29-year-old in Vienna-Hernals on Monday evening at around 19:10 due to his suspicious behaviour. When police officers attempted to stop him, the man tried briefly to flee — but was quickly apprehended.
In a carried bag, officers found two blocks of cocaine with a total weight of approximately 2.2 kilogrammes. Additionally, they secured a mid-range four-figure sum of cash. The 29-year-old Serbian national was subsequently arrested.
The investigation then led to a flat at Keplerplatz in Vienna-Favoriten, which the suspect had used. During the search, officers discovered approximately 4.7 kilogrammes of marijuana as well as about 147 grammes of cocaine. A further sum of cash in the low four-figure range was also secured there.
The Vienna Regional Criminal Office, Southern Branch, is conducting the ongoing investigation. The 29-year-old remains in police custody. The presumption of innocence applies.
