The boy is accused of firing an air rifle from a flat in Gudrunstraße in Vienna-Favoriten on 1 August at a group of girls in the courtyard of a residential building.

The victim was in the courtyard of the residential complex with friends at around 21:30 when she was hit in the left arm by an iron pellet and began bleeding. With the help of witnesses, officers were able to locate the window from which the shot had been fired.

Officers found two boys, aged 15 and 17, in the flat in question. Initially they were uncooperative. Eventually they admitted that the younger of the two had fired the weapon. Both were temporarily arrested.

The proceedings against the 17-year-old were discontinued. The 15-year-old must answer charges of attempted grievous bodily harm in court on 11 September. The presiding judge ordered the weapon to be secured for the trial, court spokesman Christoph Zonsics-Kral confirmed to the APA.
