In the early morning of 4 June 2026, a violent attack occurred outside the grounds of the Felsenfest in Gratwein. An unknown assailant repeatedly struck a 59-year-old visitor from the Graz region in the face.
The incident happened shortly after 4 am near the main entrance to the festival grounds. The reason for the conflict between the two men remains unclear. The subsequent victim suffered severe injuries from the blows. Red Cross helpers initially treated the man on site, after which he was taken to Graz University Hospital. There he received outpatient treatment and was subsequently able to go home.
Investigators from Gratwein Police Station found no clues at the scene during their initial enquiries that would point to the fleeing aggressor. According to eyewitnesses, the wanted man was in the company of a woman at the time of the incident.
