During a violent incident in a Kufstein flat, a 38-year-old woman from Romania sustained serious injuries. Her 41-year-old partner, also from Romania, is alleged to have struck her in the face with kitchen utensils during a heated dispute on Sunday evening.
Emergency services provided initial care at the scene. She was subsequently transported to an Innsbruck hospital, where she was admitted to intensive care. Doctors assessed her condition as serious, but not life-threatening.
Authorities arrested the suspect at the shared flat overnight. A spokesperson for the security authorities confirmed this to the APA. On the instructions of the prosecution authority, the man was taken to Innsbruck prison. Investigators are pursuing the case on suspicion of attempted wilful murder. The background to the dispute remained unclear initially. The investigation is continuing.
