Trial in Ried: Grazer AK fan severely injured after match
On 17 July 2026, a pair must answer to the Ried Regional Court. The men are accused of severely assaulting a Grazer AK supporter following a league match involving SV Ried. The charges are serious bodily harm, coercion and wilful obstruction of law enforcement officials.
The incident occurred after the match between SV Ried and GAK. A 32-year-old and a 44-year-old from Austria are said to have attacked the victim so viciously that he was severely injured. The two allegedly also attempted to forcibly remove the man's club vest from him – without success.
When police intervened, the older of the two is said to have injured officers. The younger suspect already has several previous convictions in the same category of offence, whilst his accomplice had no prior police record.
Both were held in investigative custody for a time. Should the court find them guilty, they face a prison sentence of six months to five years.
